Toward a “New Biology”

Robert Galloway, Ph.D., professor of Biomedical Engineering, was quoted in a story in today’s Tennessean about the need for a “new biology,” one that joins science, mathematics and engineering, to solve society’s big problems in energy, environment, agriculture and health. “Science in general is about increasing knowledge,” Galloway said. “Engineering is about finding solutions. Together they can address all of these problems.” The story was written for the Medill News Service by Mary Beth Nevulis, who is completing her master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
