You may have missed the TV program outlining VUMC’s role in genetics research. Thankfully, there is YouTube:

Here’s the introduction from the Vanderbilt Health site:

What if a genetic biopsy from your cancer can give away the secrets to killing it? What if a computer reading your genetic code could predict an illness before you even show symptoms? Or warn your doctor about a reaction you might have to a drug before it’s prescribed? We’re closer than you think.

In this documentary, physicians and scientists at Vanderbilt University Medical Center describe these tantalizing prospects in this burgeoning field known as personalized medicine.
